Fashion Friday: DIY Cuffed Sweater

Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday.  Half of my pictures weren't showing up but with some fiddling, they're all there now!

Fall is in the air and to me, that means sweater season!  I love a cozy cable-knit sweater.  L-O-V-E!

Remember this sweater?  I've had plans for it since I bought it.  But somehow it kept getting put off.  Well, 6 months later, I finally got around to it.  Here's what it looks like now:

I'm seeing these cuffed shirts EVERYWHERE!!!  And since I cut off the sleeves to make my sweater flower necklace, I decided to shorten the sleeves a little more and give them a faux cuff.
To "cuff" your sweater, you'll need:

Buttons
Needle and thread
Liquid Stitch

I measured the sleeve from the shoulder seam to where I wanted them to end, then added 2 1/2 inches (for the cuff and the hem.)  You can adjust that however you'd like if you want the cuffs wider.  Then I cut them off.  For the hem, I didn't want the stitches to show, since I wanted it to have a rolled-up look, but I didn't want the bulk of it actually being rolled.  So I used liquid stitch to turn in the raw edges, folding it over about 1/4 of an inch.

While that dried, I went on to create the tabs.  I cut a piece from the scraps of the sleeve about 3 inches long. Then, using the liquid stitch again, I turned under the raw edges, sides first and glued them down.  I left one end raw, since that would be hidden under the sleeve.

I folded up the "cuff" and then attached the tab by sewing the raw edge on the inside of the sleeve, then bringing it up and attaching it at the top with a few stitches.  Finish it off with a button at the top of the tab and you're done!

Now I'm just waiting for it to cool off a bit more so I can wear it!

Not bad for a sweater I picked up at Goodwill for just a few bucks!
