{Fab Finds} Thrifting Awesomeness!

Last week was a good week for scoring some awesome thrifted goodies.

It all started when I needed a lamp shade for a lamp make-over I'm working on (it's almost done so pics will be coming soon, along with the rest of the story) so after looking EVERYWHERE, it finally dawned on me to check Goodwill.  Duh.  I'm so glad that I went.  Not only did I find the perfect shade for only $4, I found some other great deals.

Like this pretty picture frame.  I think it was only $2.  It's going to be getting a new coat of paint and some glaze to bring out its lovely details.

Same with this beauty.  I loved the carved designs in the corners.  And at $2 it was a steal!

I've been on the hunt for some cheap candlesticks for some pedestal projects I've been wanting to do and at $1 each, they fit the bill.

Then Thursday, I took a little trip downtown to kill some time and I found the cutest little shop (which I will definitely be going to more often!) and bought these darling hand-made earrings for only $7

Anybody know what this is?  Any guesses?  {I know what it is, just testing your knowledge of old, obscure objects : ) }  I've been looking for one for a while-we had a couple that were my mom's in our house growing up and I always thought they were neat-but they're hard to find.  This beauty was only $6!

While at said charming shop, I learned that there was going to be an awesome flea market downtown on Saturday.  I, of course, went to check it out.  I found this pretty vintage owl necklace for only $3!!!  How could I NOT get it?!

And this pretty paper fan for $2.  It's got some stains, as you can see, but I've got plans for it.

Last, but certainly not least, this cute little table.  It's now sitting in our entry way, storing our games and extra candles.  Guess how much I got it for?  $30!!  I'm so happy with it-it is exactly what I've been looking for and at the price I wanted, two very good things.

Have any great finds lately?

Fashion Fridays: Fab Finds

What?!  Two features in one?!  Mind-boggling, I know.  But I've been a bargain-finding fool this week and I wanted to share what I found with you all.  And since it's all clothing-related, it fits perfectly with Fashion Fridays.  Why not kill two birds with one stone if you can, right?

My first stop was Plato's Closet.  For those of you who have never heard of or been to Plato's Closet, here's a bit about it:  it's a consignment store chain that caters to teens through twentysomethings.  They sell mostly girls/womens clothing but do have an expanding guys section.  They carry everything from clothes to shoes to bags to jewelry to room wares.  And, unlike a lot of consignment stores where you have to wait for your item to sell before you get paid, Plato's Closet buys your items right there on the spot.  You bring your items in, they decide what they can use and buy it from you.  You can check for locations on their website.  So, back to my finds.  I was there Monday selling some jewelry and was browsing through the racks while waiting for my "buy" to be ready.  Now, up to this point, I've never really found anything there that I liked enough to buy.  Truthfully, though, I've never really taken the time to look-I usually have my son with me and shopping while fighting to hold onto a 28 pound wiggly kid don't go hand-in-hand.  This time, my SIL was running errands with me, so we switched off holding Bobby and shopping.  I found these:

I snagged this J. Crew striped shirt for $8!

I love this slide-ons by Roxy.

This is my favorite find-this yellow and black plaid dress.  I love the buffalo check and I'm loving yellow right  now.  It's a little too short to wear alone, but I have a great pair of leggings that will go great under this.

Next stop: Target.  I went with my mom earlier this week.  After drooling all over the Liberty of London line, I headed over to the clearance where I found these:

I about peed my pants when I found this.
First. let me give you a little background on this vest so you can understand why I got excited:  I have been looking of a simple black vest for ages.  Every time I find one I like, it's gone when I go to buy it.  That was the case with this vest.  I saw it back in January, right before my birthday.  I fell in love instantly-it was exactly what I had been looking for.  Then I saw the price tag-$20.  I wasn't feeling it.  But, as I said, it was near my birthday. So I came back a few days later, armed with my Target gift card that I had gotten as a present and it was gone.  This was only three days after I had just seen it!  I was crushed.  I looked it up online and did a store search.  None of the stores near me had it.  I looked at the store near my mom.  None.  Then, luck found me!  And it was half off!  Heck yes!

When I first saw this skirt, I wanted one.  But I didn't want to pay $25 for it.  And they went like hotcakes.  So I was tickled pink to find one on clearance for $6.24!!!!!  Oh yeah!

Found anything good this week?

Fab Finds

My SIL Charlene and I went cruising through Goodwill the other day.  We found some really cool stuff!  Our Goodwill actually has things worth the trip and combing through all of the junk to find the treasures.  Here's what came home with me:

This was the motivation behind the trip.  I was looking for a sweater to make this.  And I have some other plans for it that have me all excited.

This was only $5!  And I have plans for it.  Oh, the plans!

Lastly, there was this cool wire basket.  It needed a bit of a make-over, though.  So here's what I did.

Nothing a good coat of black spray paint can't help.

This is to be the home of some other projects I have in the works.  I really like the black.  Gives it that wrought iron look.

Stayed tuned for what I do with the sweater (besides the necklace) and the french memo board organizer!  It's gonna be good!

Fab Finds

Oh, Walmart, how I love you!  In addition to having nearly everything I could ever need under one roof, you supply me with great fashion finds.  I know what you're thinking-Walmart?!?!  Generally not where I'd go to look for something to spruce up my wardrobe.  Target, yeah, but Walmart?!  Check out what I found yesterday, it'll change how you look at Walmart:

I found this super cute sweater vest by Miley Cyrus/Max Azria.  Now, just to let you know, I cannot STAND Miley Cyrus.  Hannah Montana aside, there is just something about that girl that grates on my nerves in a most unpleasant way.  But this line that she created with Max for Walmart is actually really cute. You just have to ignore the Miley Cyrus aspect.

And at that price, how could I NOT buy it?  Who cares if it's Miley Cyrus, it's $3!!!!!  Besides, no one is going to know what brand it is but me-the tag is on the inside : )

Then there was this cute striped number by OP.  Anyone else remember OP from back in the day?  I'm happy to see them make a comeback and it doesn't hurt that it's at Walmart prices.  I'd been looking for a shirt exactly like this for a Anthro-inspired project I've wanted to do.

And at $4, I can!  I love finding things for cheap!

So for 7 bucks, I got two new great items!  Can't beat that!  Check back tomorrow for pics of my Anthro project!  I'm really excited about it!
