Friend Makin' Mondays-5 Questions

Another Monday and that means another Friend Makin' Monday!

This is what brightens my Monday-getting to meet other people!

Amber made an announcement today regarding Friend Makin' Mondays-she's handing the reins over to Kenlie of All the Weigh.  I'm sad that Amber's no longer going to be hosting, but I've enjoyed meeting Kenz and getting to know her-I know she'll carry on FMM splendidly!

Now, on to this week's topic.

Five Little Questions

1.) What was the most enjoyable part of your weekend?

We went over to my mom's house this weekend to celebrate my baby brother's 16th birthday!  Both sets of my grandparents were there, so it was a house full of family.  I loved it!  And my mom made delicious enchiladas and ice cream cake!

2.) List two or three material possessions you can't live without.  I'm a simple girl, really.  I don't need a lot of "stuff."  Leave me my camera, laptop and phone and I'm good.  Camera, because I love taking pictures and recording moments and being able to look back at them later.  Laptop, because that's how I keep in touch with the outside world and where I store my ideas and pictures.  Phone, because that's how I call for help when I need it, talk to my sweetheart when he's away for work.  Basically, it's my life line when I need to reach someone.

3.) Which day are you most looking forward to in the coming week?  Hmm...that's a toughy because I actually have things going on this week!  I know it sounds cliche, but I'm really looking forward to the weekend: Friday night I'm going to the temple with my hubby and in-laws and Saturday, the little man is attending his first birthday party.

4.) Share one of your most embarrassing stories.  I don't actually have many.  I'm not easily embarrassed!  Now, I'm sure I have some that other people would consider embarrassing.  I run into a lot of inanimate objects, which always give my hubby a good laugh at my expense :)  And once, during a drama production in college, I forgot a line but I don't think anyone noticed.

5.) List 3 of your "must read" blog and why we should read them, too!

1. Sweetie Pie Pumpkin Noodle.  Jackie's blog was one of the first I found when I began blogging-I love all of her design loves and I find a ton of decorating inspiration there.

2. Myla Rose.  This is my good friend's blog.  Aside from her being my real-life buddy, I love to see what she comes up with.  We have similar tastes and I find her ideas inspiring.  She's been on a bit of a blogging break lately (she's pregnant with #2 and her little guy keeps her really busy) but you can flip through her old posts-they're great!

3.  Tatertots and Jello.  Jen's blog has something for everyone and I love all of the things she comes up with.  She also shares great ideas by other tremendously talented ladies, which has led me to many a wonderful blog.

There you have it!  Head on over to All the Weigh and join in the fun!

The Flood and The Aftermath

Don't forget to enter the Freckled Bug giveaway!  It ends tonight at midnight!

You may have noticed that there has been a lack of crafts around here.  And there have been.  Let me tell you why:

Last Monday, it was business as usual.  There was a load of laundry going in the wash, the little man was watching his Sesame Street and I was getting some work done on the computer.  Knock, knock on my door.  I opened it and found the maintence man for our apartment complex standing there.  "Do you have a leak? 'Cause it's raining downstairs."  Shoot.  To my knowledge, nothing in our apartment was leaking.  Then I turn around and look down my hall, where the washer is and can see that the carpet is wet.  We go over to take a look and squish! the carpet is soaked!!!!  And there's about an inch of standing water all around the washer, the bathroom floor and the it's starting to creep into the kitchen.  My washer had overflowed-instead of filling up for the rinse cycle and stopping when it was full, it just kept filling and dumping water everywhere.  We unplugged the washer, took all the clothes out and began sucking out all the water (somewhere in the drum, there must have been a hole because even after it was unplugged, the washer kept draining.)  Next, they sent up the carpet guy and he vacuumed up all of the water out of the carpet and set up an air mover to dry it all out, so our carpet wouldn't mold.  The damage: for us, just a busted washer, but it managed to "rain" on the apartment below us and the one below that-3 floors!!!  Needless to say, my plans for that Monday went right out the door and the next day was spent putting my apartment back in order and the rest of the week was spent trying to catch up on two missed days.  This weekend, we went shopping for a new washer and got an AMAZING deal on a Samsung front-loading washer.

Here it is:

And with washers, come washer boxes:

which was very quickly turned into a fort for the little man.  He absolutely loves it!  He takes his breakfast in there every morning and opens his "window" and watches Sesame Street through it.

This Monday was spent cleaning the apartment after the mess of removing the old washer, putting in the new one and not being home the rest of the weekend.

But I did get a goodie made today, and it will be up for your viewing pleasure tomorrow, along with a great guest!

It's Monday! (again)

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  I sure did.  Finally over my cold and Bobby was feeling a lot better, too. The hubs got to come home early from his trip, but has to take off again tomorrow : (  At least I got a couple days with him.  My sisters-in-law and I had a grand time playing around down by one of the many lakes here in Lakeland, taking pictures and just goofing off on Saturday.  We had a little photo project that we were working on.  We wanted to find things that looked like letters and do the whole alphabet.  Mostly so we could make our own ones of these:

Char and I had seen some at Target (this one is actually from Lisa Leonard's blog-I couldn't find any on Target's website, they must only be in the stores) and I thought, we could make our own!  We decided to do the whole alphabet for fun (and for any future projects.)
Here's what I did with the pictures we took.  I quite like it.

Nothing like a day where there's nothing really to do but what you want.  I haven't had much photography time, so this was so much fun for me.  And I got to spend some quality time with my lovely sisters-in-law.  Not to mention that after weeks and weeks of cold, the weather was b-e-a-utifil!  Couldn't have asked for a better day.

Sunday we went back to my mom's to celebrate my brother's 18th birthday.  I made him this:

Boston Cream Pie (from scratch, mind you.  No box mixes here!)  It was delish!

So, that, in a nutshell, was my weekend.  How was yours?  Do anything fun?  Relaxing?

With all this photography running through my brain, imagine my excitement when I saw this giveaway!

Epiphanie is giving away a BRAND NEW Canon 5D Mark II ~OR~ a $2500 Southwest Airlines gift certificate!  If that ain't a way to start the week off right, I don't know what is!  You can enter here.  Contest ends March 31.

And if you haven't given me your feedback yet, please do!  I want to hear from you!
