{Who's That} The Craft Monkey

Time to announce the winner of the Thoughts That Stick Giveaway.  If you're
#1, Sarah,
then you're the winner!  Congrats!
Email me your info so I can pass it along to Julie by Friday!

This week's guest on Who's That is the lovely and talented Heidi from The Craft Monkey.  She's got some fun decor to share with you all {You can find me over at The Craft Monkey today!}

Hey Everyone! I'm Heidi from The Craft Monkey.  I'm a craft lovin, decor changin, recipe tryin mama! I LOVE all things paint, paper, mod podge & glitter, but most of my projects look like they were completed by a 1st grader, and I'm OK with that! I'm always looking for new crafting inspiration and ways to keep my hands busy & my fingers covered in glue & paint! I recently opened my very own Etsy Shop, Craft Monkey Designs, where I sell some fun accessories! I'm SUPER excited to be guest posting here at Courtney's place today and really appreciate the opportunity!

I'm currently working on a Make-Over for our Master Bedroom, and I LOVE to create new decor for a space using old decor that I already have!

It's been a while since I've made a beachy themed project! So I thought today was  a good day to create a project for the BIG Master Bedroom Make-Over! Dun Dun DUUUUUN! In a previous post, I painted this frame.

I wasn't really feeling the tissue paper flower, so I pulled it off and decided it needed some seashells!  This whole project cost under $5, gotta LOVE that! I bought the frame for $1, and the 3 bags of seashells for $1 each, all from Michaels.  Pretty Sweet Deal!

Using my deadly hot glue gun, I glued some shells all over the frame. Easy Peasy, just painful on the fingers! {I'm horrible with the glue gun, I burn myself a billion times during a single project}. I didn't take any pictures of me gluing the shells on because I was afraid if I tried to glue with one hand and take a picture with the other, I would be putting my life in danger! bahahaha

Here's a look at where it will rest, which will actually be MUCH cuter after the make over!

It's starting little projects like this frame that get me motivated to complete a whole room make over.  Now to just start painting! UGH! I hate painting!

But OH, it'll be so much prettier once it's completed!

Courtney, thanks again for having me! This has been a blast!

Thanks so much for dropping by today, Heidi!  I hope you all head on over to The Craft Monkey and check out all the other neat things Heidi has over on her cute blog.

#5, Holly M. of Beach Cove Jewelry!

Congrats, Holly!  Please send me an email by Monday so that I can get you in touch with Laura for your prize!
This week's Who's That is the lovely Stephanie from Coupon Clippin' Mommy.

Stephanie and I "interviewed" each other and I had a wonderful time getting to know her.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.  I'm a 30 year old Mom of 2, married for 8 years to my wonderful husband.  I'm a stay at home mom with an undergrad and graduate degree from Virginia Tech.  The fall is my favorite time of the year with college football in full swing.  I enjoy spending time with my family and extended family which includes an identical twin sister.

How would you describe your personality?  I'm very outgoing and love to be around people.  I am always doing more than one thing at a time and hate to just sit and do nothing.

What inspires you? My kids!

I collect quotes for my blog. Do you have a favorite quote you'd like to share?
Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

Home is where you hang your memories

What is one thing about you that not many people know? Not many of my blogging buddies know I am an identical twin!

What’s your favorite book? I love organizational books.

What kind of music do you listen to? Country, Christian and kids music!

Hobbies: scrapbooking, stamping, card making, reading and blogging.

Tell me a little bit about your blog.
The mission of Coupon Clippin' Mommy is to Save my readers time and money with some of the best deals around and to Share great products with them through reviews and giveaways.

Why did you start blogging? I have had a personal blog since my Son was a few months old.  I started Coupon Clippin' Mommy a while ago but didn't focus on it until January of this year when I bought my .com.

What has been the most rewarding thing about blogging? The networking with others and learning about/trying some great products.  As a stay at home mom this gives me an opportunity to have something that's my own.

What have you learned/gotten out of blogging? Blogging has allowed me to use some of my creativeness and have an outlet while being a stay at home Mom.

What do you hope your readers get from your blog? I hope they find products that they would like to try, catch some good deals and find my random posts entertaining.

What goals do you have for your blog? I want to provide information/products that keep my readers coming back.  I hope that my blog helps someone learn something new or have the opportunity to try out a new product.

List your 3 favorite blog posts that you've written.

What is your favorite product that you have reviewed?
That's a hard one, I would have to say the hand stamped necklace is one of my favorite products.

What advertiser would you like to work with given a chance? Any of the big name toy companies.

What is one thing you wish you had known before you started you blog? It's time consuming to keep up with it all.

How do you balance blogging, family and free time? Not very well but I'm learning.  I try to get my blogging done while kids are napping or in the evenings.

What are your contact details (email, company, blog, facebook, myspace, forums, etc)?

Thanks so much for coming over today, Stephanie!  And you can check out my side of the interview over at her blog, Coupon Clippin' Mommy.

Who's That: Along for the Ride (and a giveaway!)-CLOSED

First things first, it's time to announce the winner of the Freckled Bug giveaway.  The lucky lady receiving Andrea's super-cute hair bows is:

#7-Stephanie from Coupon Clippin' Mommy!

Congrats, Stephanie!  Shoot me an email by Monday so I can you and Andrea in touch!

I'm so excited to introduce you all to Laura from Along for the Ride today.  She and I are doing a blog swap and she was gracious enough to let me "interview" her!  I hope you all enjoy getting to know her as much as I have!

Could you tell my readers just a little bit about yourself?- I have been married to a cute, funny, kind man named Kyle for a little over a year. We have a little kitty named Jupiter. And we live in a residence hall with 400 college students! I am a hall coordinator- I have a masters degree in higher education and hope to work at a college forever! Kyle just started his masters in library science this fall. We love working with college students and watching them grow!

Tell me a little bit about your blog.  What prompted you to start Along For The Ride and why? I started along for the ride as a way to stay connected to our family back home. Then I was introduced to the world of craft blogs...and I started crafting more myself. I love sharing my projects  and being inspired by others. I host a weekly craft party on Saturdays called Saturday is Crafty Day. Since I started it last fall, my blog has turned into a space where I share my love of crafting, love of my family and my job, and my love of Jesus Christ.

What inspires you?  What type of things do you find yourself being drawn to? I am inspired by women who lead simple, God-filled lives, who love their families, and relish in the little things. On the crafty side of things, I am inspired by bright colors, flowers, and all kinds of jewelry.

What are your favorite things to create? My first love is jewelry! I have recently gotten in to sewing and love making coffee cozies. I also really love making decorations for the different holidays and making our apartment nice and festive.

What have you enjoyed most about blogging? I love meeting new women who have similar interests as I do in faith, family, and crafty endeavors. I feel like we're a little family. I also really love readings others' blogs and getting inspired.

What do you hope your readers take away from your blog? I always hope that I bring a little sunshine to my readers. I also hope that my faith will shine through. And if they pick up a craft idea or two, that's great too!

If you could blog swap with any one person for a day, who would it be and why? I would love to blog swap with Lisa Leonard. I just love her blog and her pictures and her story. What a beautiful heart.
I collect quotes for my blog.  Do you have a favorite quote you'd like to share? Currently my favorite is
"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." Mark Twain

What one skill do you wish you were better at? Sewing!

How would you describe your personality? I think I'm a bit quirky, sparkly, and down to earth.

What is your favorite product that you have reviewed? I haven't really reviewed any but would love the opportunity.

What advertiser would you like to work with given a chance? I'd love to work with DaySpring. I love their items and their message.

What is one thing you wish you had known before you started you blog? What a time commitment it can be. It can literally take all your time if you let it. My husband always tells me "your run your blog, your blog doesn't run you." I've gotten a lot better at not feeling guilty if I don't post every day or don't return every e-mail super quickly.

How do you balance blogging, family and free time? Some days better than others. My job is very unique (i'm a hall coordinator and live and work in a residence hall) so family, free time, work, and blogging is quite a balancing act. I have never been one to silo my life into different compartments and the various roles I play bleed into one another. That's how it is for my blog. I don't just write about one thing. I try to keep my readers on their toes!

Thanks so much for letting me pick your brain today, Laura!

And as if that weren't enough, Laura is giving away this adorable cozy to one lucky Scraps and Scribbles reader:

Happy Monday all!  I'm sorry I didn't get over here over the weekend to announce the Lisa Leonard winner.  It was a very busy weekend!  I don't want to keep you all hanging any longer, so, without any further ado, the winner of the $25 gift cerfiticate is:

Congratulations, April!  Please email me by Thursday so that I can get your info to Lisa!  And a big thank you to everyone who entered!
I've been working on giving my blog a facelift.  I'm computer-challenged so it's not anything super-fancy, but with the help of some super-nice bloggy friends, it's getting there.  What do you think so far?  I am still working on a button (to replace the current Scraps and Scribbles button-I've never really liked it) but I haven't really found anything that I really like.  Any suggestions?

Check out this awesome coupon organizer from Blue Cricket Designs!  Becca made this to solve her coupon dilemma while shopping.  Keep your coupons handy and organized and look fabulous while shopping!  You can find her tutorial here at Blue Cricket Designs.

Oops, I've Done It Again

I feel like I've been here before.  This place where I've gotten behind and I apologize and promise to catch up and post regularly like I'm supposed to and then I don't.  So no more of that.  I'm just going to do it.

By "it," I mean keeping up with my posts like I should.

I know that there will be times where I won't be able to get to the computer, to get my posts done, because I do have a life.  A very full life, with a baby and a husband, who are demanding of my time in a way that I love.  But I don't want to feel like I need to apologize for it.  Why should I feel like I need to say I'm sorry for having a life, outside of the internet?  So when life happens, no more apologies.  I'll just get back up, and pick up where I left off.

Like this weekend.  I had every intention of posts: I have a lovely t-shirt re-vamp to share with you, some awesome guests to introduce you to and some projects I've been working on.  And I'm way behind on my tips.  But instead, I spend most of my weekend in bed, trying not to lose my lunch.  Exhaustion can do that to you, I guess.  It's just been so busy with my dad being here, then my mom was here for part of the weekend and the hubs got home from his latest business trip.  And my time just got away from me.  As it does for all of us, occasionally.

And I know that you all understand what I'm saying.  Because you have lives too.  There will be times when I will have to choose which is more important: that life or this blog.  In the grand scheme of things. blogging in near the bottom of what's important.  Not to say that you, my lovely readers and supporters, aren't important, because you most certainly are.  Without you, I'd have no reason to even worry about this blog.  So thank you!  But I think you all understand what I'm getting at.

In other news, the winner of the Fashion Friday giveaway never got in touch with me, so as promised, I've chosen another winner at random and that person is:

#1, Jill from Women Who Do It All!!!

How awesome is that?!  #1 almost never gets chosen!  Congrats, Jill!  Send me your address and I'll send you your prize :)

And I shall be back later this week with many fun things for you all.  Thank you for your patience and continued support.  I love you all!

Who's That: Sweet Charli

First things first, thanks to Random.org, we have a winner of the Tile Pendant Necklace giveaway.

#5- Erin L., who said  "I really like the 10 Charm Bracelet from Imjewelee. I would use it to make a beaded charm bracelet." (her comments got accidentally deleted, in case you're wondering what's going on.)

Congrats, Erin!

Please email me your info (address and which necklace you'd like) as soon as you can and I'll have your prize off to you, lickety split!

Now, on to this week's Who's That.

I am very excited to introduce you all to the amazing Kami from Sweet Charli.  She's been gracious enough to share one of her super-cool tutorials with you all today.  Take it away, Kami!

Hello all you Scraps and Scribbles readers! I feel very honored to be a guest blogger on Courtney's wonderful blog! She is very talented, and not to mention sweet! I especially love her darling tile necklaces...did you see her tutorial??

A little about me, my name is Kami from Sweet Charli Boutique & Blog.

I am a mother of ONE, to my sweet Charli girl! I always put girl at the end because typically, people think of Charli as a boy name. But after reading (and watching) Jack Weyland's "Charly", (you MUST see) I couldn't resist the name - and after years of waiting until it was the right time for a baby girl, I finally got to name my baby after her! I have been married for 4 1/2 years, to my high school sweetie!!  And obviously, I love to craft! I especially love making things for myself, like cute earrings and rings found HERE & HERE, fun flip-flops HERE, and my corsage wristlets, which I am sharing with you right now...enjoy!

Look for the "no-sew" version of these babies HERE

The possibilities are ENDLESS!

Here is what you need:
Ribbon (any size, but I like best and am using 1 1/2 inch ribbon)
Top ribbon (1/2 inch works well with this)
Sewing machine
Jewelry fastener
Any embellishment you want on top
(silk flowers, ribbon flowers, fabric flowers, broach)

Take your ribbon and ruffle it by pinning it and then sewing

Here's what it looks like after it's been sewn

Then sew the smaller ribbon on top, sew up the ends, and give it a nice button hole

Sew on your jewelry fastener on the other end

And wahlaah! Easy huh? And super-cute for Spring! I cannot tell you how many compliments I get when I wear mine out!

You will find that after making these, you will no longer match your bracelet to your outfit, you will match your outfit to your bracelet!!

Thanks Courtney, for inviting me to guest-post! Hope you all enjoy your new bracelets!
LOVE, KAMI

Thanks so much for sharing, Kami!  Be sure to stop by her blog and check out all of Kami's creations over at Sweet Charli!

Who's That: ImJewelee (and giveaway!)-CLOSED

First things first, thank you to everyone who entered the It's A Hodgepodge Life giveaway!  And thanks to all of the new followers-I'm excited to have you!  Thanks to random.org, we have a winner!
Congratulations to Andrea, who said "I love all of Gay's crosses."
Please email your info so I can pass it along to Gay and she can send you your prize!

AND this is Scraps and Scribbles' 100th post!  This little blog has come so far!  And it's all thanks to you, my lovely readers!  Thank you : )

Now, on to this week's feature.

I'm pleased to introduce you to Julee, the mastermind behind ImJewelee.  Isn't she lovely?  Simply put, she is amazing.  Here's a little bit about her, in her own words:
"Hi, I am Julee (ImJewelee ... get it?) and the creator and designer of the XO Brand™ of Designer Jewelry Findings.  Well let me say that I love Etsy and I joined in the summer of 2008, selling scrabble tile pendants. One of mine was even featured on the front page! Then I wanted to use my creativity to design my own line of jewelry findings, so the XO Brand™ was created just for you to use to make your own creations."
I found her when searching for jewelry supplies on Etsy.  Let me tell you, she's got everything you could ever need and more, all at super-reasonable prices.  I'm just floored that she makes her own stuff-she's got everything from bails

to bead bars

to necklace chain

to charms.

Just look at her sales-the woman has had 7347 sales!  7347!  Incredible!  I love the bails that I bought from her and will definitely buy more.  She's easy to deal with-I had a question about one of her items and she got back to me the same day.

This is what I used her bails for:

Perfection!  Julee, thanks for being so awesome!

Want to win a tile pendant necklace made with one of Julee's awesome bails?  I know you do.  I'm giving away one necklace of your choice from my Etsy shop.  Here's what you need to do to enter:

1) Be a follower of Scraps and Scribbles (this one is mandatory and I'll be checking :P)

2) Check out D Squared Creations and tell me which necklace you'd like to win.

3) Pay a visit to ImJewelee and tell what you like and what you'd create with it.

4) Let your friends know about Scraps and Scribbles and the giveaway-Facebook, tweet or blog-whichever you like-and leave me a link so I can check it out.

Please leave a separate comment for each thing you do-it makes it easier for me when it's time to pick the winner.  The giveaway will run now through Tuesday, May 18th at midnight EST.  The winner will be chosen at random and announced in next week's Who's That on May 19th.
